The Spring bulbs are fairly pushing through the soil, especially the daffodils, excellent reminder that the milder days are not so very far off.
If your garden is open to the elements, look out for some of the shorter Daffs in the garden centres next Autumn.

Filipendula Rubra

Filipendula an ideal waterside perennial, which absolutely thrives in the Aberdeen area. Generally preferring to be in partial shade in moist soil. The variety Rubra grows to around four feet tall with fluffy deep pink flowers which lighten with age, flowering June/August.

The evergreen shrub Mahonia is widely grown for its charming yellow scented flowers and long green leaves consisting of 16 to 22 leaflets.
